SEBI settles NSE lapses for ₹1,491 crore, bars Zee executives
India's Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has agreed in principle to a settlement with the National Stock Exchange (NSE) for past regulatory lapses, including co-location and dark-fibre cases, involving a payment of ₹1,491.21 crore. This settlement resolves a long-drawn legal battle and clears the NSE's path for an Initial Public Offering (IPO). Separately, SEBI has banned Zee Entertainment Enterprises (ZEEL) chairman emeritus Subhash Chandra and CEO Punit Goenka from the securities market for one year and imposed a penalty of ₹14.8 million on them for fraudulently pledging ZEEL's assets to secure loans for promoter-linked entities.
