Floods Impact 20 Districts; Climate Change Threatens Tea Plantations

Floods have affected 20 districts across India, with Assam experiencing severe impacts leading the government to seek a loan moratorium and faster insurance claims for affected areas. Separately, a study indicates that climate change and Super El Niño conditions pose a threat to tea plantations in the Nilgiris. In Nagaland, ex-gratia payments of over Rs 4 lakh were distributed to the kin of eight landslide victims, and the NPF party donated Rs 6 lakh to those affected by the Mon landslide.
