Minister Admits E20 Petrol Mileage Dip, Cites Ethanol's Price Benefit
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari informed Parliament that E20 petrol, blended with 20% ethanol, can reduce fuel efficiency by 2% to 6% in some vehicles. He also stated that ethanol blending has kept petrol prices lower, saving consumers approximately thirty rupees per litre. This comes amidst global crude oil prices reaching $135 a barrel. The government has kept fuel prices unchanged for seventy-five days.
