Cabinet Approves Major Schemes for Energy and Infrastructure
The Union Cabinet has approved the 'Samudra Manthan' scheme with an outlay of ₹84,084 crore for offshore oil and gas exploration, aiming to harness India's energy resources by FY2030-31. Additionally, the Cabinet sanctioned the Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana, allocating ₹5,070 crore to promote floating solar power projects with a target of 5,000 MW by 2030-31. Two strategic tunnel projects in Jammu and Kashmir were also approved to ensure all-weather connectivity.
