Ex-AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain Gets Life Sentence for Delhi Riots Murder
Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councillor Tahir Hussain and four others have been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer Ankit Sharma during the 2020 Delhi riots. A Karkardooma court convicted Hussain and his co-accused of murder and criminal conspiracy on July 13. The court rejected the prosecution's demand for the death penalty, opting for life sentences. The judge noted that the convicts' illiteracy was a factor in the sentencing decision. Sharma was found with 51 wounds, including seven fatal ones, and his body was thrown into a drain.
