E20 Petrol May Affect Older Vehicle Parts, Reduce Mileage
The Indian government has acknowledged that E20 petrol, which contains 20% ethanol, may cause a mileage reduction of 2-6% in vehicles. While no engine failures have been reported, certain plastic and rubber components in older vehicles, particularly those manufactured before BS-III standards, might require replacement due to incompatibility with E20 fuel. This information was conveyed by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in Parliament. Some reports suggest that older vehicles' fuel systems may need adjustments or part replacements.
