CAPF officers challenge new Act in Supreme Court over promotions

Over 3,000 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) cadre officers have filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging provisions of the new CAPF Act. The petitioners, including gallantry award recipients and women officers, argue that the new law hinders the promotion of CAPF cadre officers to leadership positions. They contend it creates opportunities for more Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to be appointed to senior roles through deputation, potentially sidelining internal promotions.
