Corruption allegations against opposition leader

Opposition leader P Chidambaram was arrested on corruption charges at his residence in Delhi. The police claimed that they had evidence of tax evasion and money laundering. The government said that the arrest was a result of a thorough investigation into financial irregularities. The opposition alleged that the arrest was politically motivated and targeted the leader's reputation. The police denied this, stating that the arrest was based on concrete evidence. Chidambaram's lawyers claimed that their client had been unfairly targeted.
