Iran denies asking US to halt strikes, disputes Trump's deal claims
US President Donald Trump stated on August 1 that the US was prepared for military action against Iran but agreed to postpone strikes after requests from Tehran and other West Asian nations. However, Iranian media has denied these claims, calling them "a new lie" and asserting that Iran did not ask the US to hold off. Iran also stated that any deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz was not finalized and that restrictions would remain as long as US actions continued. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reportedly urged Trump to avoid wider conflict by reaching an agreement.
