Heavy rains cause floods and landslides across India
Heavy rainfall has triggered floods and landslides in several Indian states. In Kerala, continuous rain caused rivers to swell and raised flood fears in central Travancore districts, with mudslides and fallen trees reported in Idukki. Jammu and Kashmir experienced flash floods and cloudbursts in Ganderbal and Kishtwar, leading to water entering homes and gardens and the closure of schools in the Chenab Valley. Meanwhile, Karnataka saw increased river flows due to rain, though some areas like Dharwad face drought concerns amid a monsoon deficit.
