India braces for heavy rain, IMD issues alerts across multiple states
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy rainfall across several Indian states. Gujarat has been placed on high alert with a stay-indoors advisory issued for Surat due to a red alert. Navsari in Gujarat recorded over 400 mm of rain in 24 hours. Alerts have also been issued for Rajasthan, Punjab, and the Northeast and Himalayan foothills, with warnings of flash floods in some northern and southern regions. Meanwhile, Delhi experienced humid weather with its maximum temperature exceeding the normal by 1.3 degrees Celsius.
