Bangladesh Warns India Over Hasina's Planned Address, Citing Bilateral Ties

Bangladesh has asked India to clarify its stance on Sheikh Hasina's planned media address in New Delhi, warning that such activities from India could affect bilateral ties. Hasina, the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, is scheduled to make her first public appearance in India in two years on August 5. Her government was reportedly toppled in August 2024 following student-led protests. Writer Taslima Nasreen commented that the ban on the Awami League was against democracy and expressed a wish for Sheikh Hasina's return to Bangladesh. Some reports suggest Hasina may plan a return to Bangladesh in December.
