Lok Sabha increases Supreme Court judge strength to 38
The Lok Sabha passed a bill to increase the sanctioned strength of Supreme Court judges from 34 to 38. The legislation was passed in under 10 minutes and without debate. This marks the first increase in the court's strength since 2019. The bill was passed amid ongoing opposition protests and disruptions in the House. The bill was subsequently returned to the Lok Sabha after passing the Rajya Sabha.
