Heavy rains cause deaths, damage, and disruption across India
Heavy monsoon rains have caused widespread disruption and fatalities across India. In West Bengal's Howrah district, lightning strikes killed four people and injured two. Jharkhand reported thirteen deaths and eight injuries from lightning strikes across three districts. Arunachal Pradesh experienced landslides and flash floods in three districts, while north Bengal saw trees felled and roads blocked by downpours. Kerala issued an orange alert for twelve districts, with the Chief Minister set to visit flood-affected Aranmula. Separately, Sri Lanka reported seven deaths due to floods and mudslides, with nearly 3,500 people evacuated.
