Article 370 Abrogation Anniversary Marked by Protests and Security Measures in J&K

On the anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, political parties in Jammu and Kashmir planned protests demanding the restoration of the region's special status. The National Conference (NC) held a protest, with leaders carrying placards and attempting to march from their party office, but were prevented by police. Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti called the anniversary a "dark night" and sought the restoration of Articles 370 and 35A. Authorities imposed heightened security measures across Jammu and Kashmir, including Srinagar, and banned unauthorised protests. The Amarnath Yatra convoys were suspended from Jammu as a precautionary measure.
