RBI to Launch Polymer Notes by FY28, Governor Confirms
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has confirmed plans to introduce polymer (plastic) banknotes. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das indicated that these notes could be launched by the financial year 2027-28. The introduction of plastic notes aims to enhance durability and security compared to traditional paper currency. Consumers will eventually be able to use these notes for shopping.
