RBI to introduce polymer Rs 10 and Rs 20 notes by FY28
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) plans to introduce polymer banknotes of Rs 10 and Rs 20 denominations by the beginning of the next financial year, FY28. A pilot program is currently underway to test the durability and security of these notes under Indian conditions. These polymer notes are expected to last longer than paper currency, potentially reducing replacement costs. They will circulate alongside existing paper notes.
