Assam floods claim 95 lives, affect over 1.6 lakh people
Flooding in Assam has resulted in 95 deaths, with over 1.6 lakh people affected across 14 districts. Six additional deaths were reported on Wednesday, primarily in the Sivasagar district. Authorities have set up more than 100 relief camps for displaced residents. Overnight rains have exacerbated the situation, threatening further inundation, and Union Minister J.P. Nadda stated that a return to normalcy will take time. A state minister reviewed the flood situation in Guwahati and ordered a long-term drainage masterplan.
