Nine Apps Fined Rs 20 Lakh for 'Dark Patterns'
India's consumer regulator has levied penalties totaling approximately Rs 20 lakh against nine companies for employing 'dark patterns' in their apps. Companies including Zepto, BookMyShow, IndiGo, and Physics Wallah were among those fined. The fines were imposed by the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) for deceptive practices.
