Karnataka Officials Address Drought, Water Crisis and Farmers' Relief
Karnataka officials are preparing for a potential water crisis due to drought conditions. Yathindra Siddaramaiah has directed officials to create a comprehensive plan for drinking water supply and manage the drought situation efficiently in Mysuru. Minister Tangadagi has instructed officials to expedite interim crop insurance relief for drought-hit farmers, with reports indicating 80% crop damage in most taluks. He also emphasized prioritizing drinking water, fodder supply, and rural employment. Meanwhile, Karnataka ministers have been tasked with visiting flood- and drought-hit districts to submit reports. Separately, Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin urged the Prime Minister to expedite the Godavari-Cauvery-Gundar river link project to augment water resources.
