Government Tightens Rules Against Fake Drug Data Submission
The Union Health Ministry has introduced stricter regulations to penalize pharmaceutical companies submitting fake or fabricated data for regulatory approval. Under the new rules, companies found guilty will not only face rejection of applications or cancellation of existing licenses but will also be temporarily debarred from applying for future approvals. This measure aims to deter repeated violations and ensure data integrity in the pharmaceutical sector. Separately, the government is examining Meta's role as a platform versus a publisher, questioning its recommendation algorithms and handling of paid content, and has asked the company to act against deepfakes and harmful AI content.
