Haritali Teej 2026: Hindu Festival Date, Significance and Rituals

Haratālikā Tīj is a Hindu festival celebrated on the first day after the full moon in the month of Kartik. The festival commemorates the legend of Sita, the wife of Lord Rama, who was abducted by Ravana. According to tradition, Sita's brother Laksmana searched for her everywhere but could not find her. On the seventh day of her search, he found a lake with a lotus flower in it, and when he asked Sita about the lake, she replied that it was her own body. The festival is celebrated by women to pray for their husbands' long life and prosperity.
