Heavy Rains Cause Flooding, Accidents, and Record Rainfall in Delhi-NCR
Heavy rainfall in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) has led to significant waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and accidents. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Delhi. In Jagatpur, three schoolchildren fell into an overflowing drain but were rescued by locals and an auto driver. A young man is feared dead after falling into a drain in Madanpur Khadar. In Deoli, a parking wall collapsed due to the rain, damaging several vehicles. August's first seven days saw 127 mm of rain in Delhi, the highest since 2011, breaking a 15-year record.
