Punjab dispensed 56 crore de-addiction pills in over four years

Over a period of more than four years, Punjab dispensed 56 crore pills intended for the treatment of drug addiction. The Indian Express reported that in 4.5 years, 43.44 crore pills of an opioid used for addiction treatment were procured. The Tribune noted that Punjab MLAs have raised concerns about the risks associated with these medications.
