Food Safety Regulator Orders Shutdowns and Suspensions Over Hygiene Lapses
Maharashtra's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) have taken action against multiple food establishments for hygiene violations. Two hostel mess facilities at IIT Bombay were ordered to halt operations due to missing permissions. Additionally, licenses were suspended or cancelled for several other outlets, including Punjab Grill in Navi Mumbai, VKC Nuts, and Chheda Specialities. Violations cited include poor hygiene, incomplete manufacturing records, pest infestations, mould, live insects, fungal growth, and inadequate waste management.
