Amit Shah Urges UCBs to Reconsider RBI Relationship
Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has urged Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs) to view the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) differently, stating the central bank has proactively assisted the sector. Shah encouraged UCBs to aggregate savings from common people to form larger pools for significant business operations. He also highlighted that smaller loans tend to have better asset quality, suggesting a focus on lending to small borrowers for sector growth and stability. Shah also called for UCBs to join the National Cooperative Union Federation of India (NCUFDC) for technological support.
