CPCB Acts Against States Over Biomedical Waste
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) will act against states and union territories for violating biomedical waste disposal rules. According to a CPCB report, 17 states and UTs have been flagged for non-compliance. The report found that out of 9,178 healthcare facilities using deep burial, only 5,715 were compliant with prescribed rules. The CPCB submitted the report to the National Green Tribunal (NGT). The board's action is aimed at ensuring proper disposal of biomedical waste.
