Government Approves Trial of Polymer Banknotes
The Indian government has approved a plan by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to introduce one billion polymer banknotes of Rs 10 and Rs 20 denominations. These polymer notes will circulate alongside existing paper currency on a trial basis. The approval signifies a move towards testing polymer currency in India.
