Karnataka Ordered to Release Cauvery Water to Tamil Nadu Amid Protests
The Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) has ordered Karnataka to release 12,000 cusecs of water daily to Tamil Nadu for 15 days, starting August 12. This decision has led to protests by farmers in Karnataka's Mandya district. Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar stated that the state must protect its farmers and abide by court verdicts. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear Tamil Nadu's plea seeking water release on August 13. An activist, Vatal Nagaraj, has announced that a Karnataka bandh will proceed on August 13.
