Microfinance Sector Portfolio Growth and Asset Quality Improvement
The microfinance sector's portfolio is projected to grow by 15% in the fiscal year 2027, according to Alok Misra, CEO of MFIN. Asset quality within the sector has further improved, with the portfolio at risk falling to 2.3% in June. This improvement is attributed to aggressive write-offs of bad loans by lenders, leading to a reduction in stressed loans across the sector. The sector has also seen consolidation, resulting in better portfolio performance and larger average loan sizes.
