Supreme Court Declines Uniform Policy on Illegal Constructions, Asks States to Consider
The Supreme Court has declined to mandate a uniform policy for the demolition or regularisation of unauthorised constructions across India. Instead, the court has directed states to consider framing their own policies on the matter. This decision came after a plea sought a uniform approach to dealing with illegal structures. The court indicated that a one-size-fits-all approach would not be appropriate for the diverse situations across different states.
