Supreme Court to hear pleas on protest surveillance and essential services
The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a plea filed by Rajya Sabha MP A.A. Rahim challenging the use of facial recognition and biometric surveillance technology by the Delhi Police on protesters. Rahim argued that such surveillance on peaceful protesters was unconstitutional. Separately, the court will also hear a plea concerning the disruption of essential services during protests.
