Parliamentary Panel Reports High Student Dropout Rate Before Higher Secondary
A parliamentary panel has reported that nearly 73% of students drop out before completing higher secondary education. The panel's report, presented to Lok Sabha, also flagged issues such as textbook shortages, exam stress, and delays in NCERT textbooks. It recommended increasing the number of secondary and higher secondary schools to boost enrollment and urged states and union territories to establish more such institutions. The report also noted government delays in providing scholarships to Scheduled Caste students.
