Kerala High Court rules funding peaceful protests no bar to FCRA renewal
The Kerala High Court has set aside the rejection of FCRA renewal applications for two NGOs. The Centre had previously denied renewal, citing a report from a Central Security Agency alleging the NGOs funded protests against the Vizhinjam Port project. The High Court ruled that funding peaceful protests cannot be considered an "undesirable purpose" that warrants denial of FCRA renewal. The court stated that such funding is not a ground to cancel an NGO's registration.
