Meta removes over 750,000 Australian teen accounts
Meta has removed 756,000 accounts belonging to Australian users under the age of 16. The company stated that over 500,000 of these accounts were deactivated before Australia's social media age verification law took effect on December 10. The law was enacted due to concerns about the impact of social media on the physical and mental health of children and young teens. The removed accounts included 462,000 on Instagram and 294,000 on Facebook.
