Foreign investors led anchor selling in IPOs, study finds

A Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) study revealed that foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) were the largest sellers among anchor investors in Initial Public Offerings (IPOs). The study found that anchor investors frequently sold shares after the 30-day lock-in period expired, which put pressure on stock prices. Smaller IPOs experienced a higher intensity of anchor investor exits and selling compared to larger ones. Some anchor investors also continued selling beyond the prescribed lock-in periods.
