Census 2027 to include caste details and personal identification information
The Indian government has notified 40 questions for the 2027 Census, which will include caste enumeration for the first time since 1931. The new questionnaire also seeks details on parents' particulars, bank accounts, Aadhaar, passport, voter ID, and driving licence numbers. The decision to include caste was made by the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA). The census will also record SC/ST status alongside caste.
