Government Removes 12-Minute Ad Cap for TV Channels

The Indian government has scrapped the 12-minute per hour advertising cap for television channels. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting argued that the 2006 rule is obsolete due to changes in the television landscape. This decision aims to ensure a level playing field for broadcasters and will take effect upon notification in the Gazette. The change allows for longer ad breaks.
