Nag Panchami Festival Celebrated Across India
Nag Panchami, a festival dedicated to the worship of snakes, was observed across India. The festival often coincides with the third Monday of the Hindu month of Shravan. In Ujjain, the doors of the Mahakaleshwar temple's Nagchandreshwar shrine, which are open only for 24 hours annually, were opened for devotees. Various rituals and traditions associated with the festival include offering prayers to snake deities, preparing special food items as 'bhog', and understanding the difference between snakes and cobras.
