India proposes front-of-pack warning labels for unhealthy foods
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has proposed new front-of-pack warning labels for packaged foods high in fat, sugar, and salt. These labels are intended to be red and may feature a hexagon shape with larger font sizes. The proposal comes after public outcry and is part of efforts to promote healthier eating habits. The FSSAI is considering these changes in response to concerns about rising rates of non-communicable diseases linked to diet.
