FIR against Rahul Gandhi over Haldwani 'purification' remarks
An FIR has been registered against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Haldwani following alleged 'purification' rituals performed at a venue after a public meeting addressed by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. The alleged purification occurred on August 11, after Kharge's meeting on August 8. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to order an FIR against those who performed the ritual, stating the act violated the Constitution. The Congress party has stated the FIR against Gandhi is for raising his voice against casteism.
