Supreme Court Dismisses Plea for Ethanol Content Disclosure at Petrol Pumps
The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking mandatory disclosure of the percentage of ethanol in petrol sold at fuel pumps. The court stated that consumers were entitled to know the composition and quality of fuel they purchase. However, the bench declined to hear the plea, directing the petitioner to approach the high court for relief. The PIL had argued for the consumer's 'right to know' the exact ethanol percentage in petrol.
