Haryana Groundwater Quality Declines, Government Admits
Groundwater quality has deteriorated in 93 blocks across Haryana since 2022, according to a Congress MLA. Palwal and Nuh districts are among the most affected areas. In Palwal, the average Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) increased by 74% over three years, rising from 940 mg/L to 1,636 mg/L. The Indri block in Nuh recorded a TDS level of 1,974 mg/L, almost double its 2022 level. The Haryana government has admitted that TDS levels in groundwater exceed acceptable limits in 62% of the state's blocks.
