Maratha Quota Activist on Hunger Strike, Government Offers Talks
Maratha community activist Manoj Jarange began a hunger strike on September 11, demanding the government accept his community's quota demands. He set a September 12 deadline for the Maharashtra government to respond. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated the government is willing to discuss the "legally valid" demands of the Maratha community.
