India to consider Bihar's concerns before Ganga treaty renewal
India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has stated that Bihar's concerns will be considered before the renewal of the 1996 India-Bangladesh Ganga water-sharing treaty. This statement came in response to a letter from Janata Dal (U) Member of Parliament Sanjay Jha, who had complained that the existing treaty negatively impacted Bihar. The current treaty is scheduled to expire on December 31. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has assured that Bihar's interests will be safeguarded.
