India-US Trade Deal Awaits US Offer of Preferential Tariffs, Says Minister
India's trade deal with the United States will be finalized only after Washington offers preferential tariff rates compared to competitors, Union Minister Piyush Goyal stated. Goyal, who is the Minister of Commerce and Industry, indicated that this preferential tariff arrangement is a crucial aspect for enhancing the competitiveness of Indian goods in the US market. He also mentioned that India has secured favorable terms in nine other free trade agreements. The finalization of the bilateral trade agreement (BTA) is contingent on the US providing better tariff conditions than those offered to other competing nations.
