Ladakh to Establish Autonomous Hill Development Councils in All Districts
Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has approved the establishment of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils (LAHDCs) in all seven districts of Ladakh. This decision aims to decentralize governance and strengthen grassroots administration by expanding elected local self-governance. The approval also includes the resolution of a long-pending issue concerning barren land, which is expected to grant proprietary rights to thousands of residents. The Nautor Land Rules have been approved, allowing individuals to own up to 10 acres of land.
