US regulator evaluates Tesla's steering-wheel-free Cybercab rollout
The U.S. auto safety regulator, NHTSA, is evaluating Tesla's rollout of its Cybercab robotaxis. The Cybercab is a two-seater autonomous vehicle designed without a steering wheel, pedals, or mirrors. Tesla held an invitation-only launch event for the Cybercab on Thursday, with some reports indicating it was in Austin. Elon Musk has long promised driverless Teslas, with a previous Cybercab unveiling in October 2024. Tesla shares rallied over 5% ahead of the event, with investors focusing on its robotaxi ambitions.
