Janmashtami Celebrated Across India with Greetings and Events
India celebrated Janmashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna, with religious observances, greetings from political leaders, and cultural events. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu extended greetings, emphasizing Lord Krishna's teachings on selfless action and virtues. Various state leaders, including Chief Ministers and Governors, also conveyed wishes to their respective populations. In Kerala, Janmashtami festivities organized by Balagokulam, an RSS and BJP-backed group, were contrasted by a 'March for Justice' organized by DYFI, which demanded action in a sexual assault case and alleged a political understanding involving the accused former BJP leader. Artistic expressions of the festival included a sand sculpture of Lord Krishna in Puri, Odisha.
