Petrol, diesel and precious metal prices rise across Indian cities on Sept 4, 2026
On September 4, 2026, petrol prices in Indian cities varied between ₹100.55 and ₹116.39 per litre, while diesel prices remained unchanged since a May 25 increase of ₹2.71 per litre by state‑owned oil marketing companies. The price rise coincided with Brent crude moving toward its biggest weekly gain since July, driven by heightened tensions between the United States and Iran. Gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange were up 0.05% at ₹1,55,701 per 10 g, and silver futures rose 0.02% to about ₹2,42,391 per kilogram. Business Today reported that the government is seeking to cut dependence on imported cooking gas by expanding LPG, CNG and PNG supplies and piped‑gas connections. Multiple outlets provided city‑wise listings of fuel rates for Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and other locations.
